Turning Point Center to host free “Raving for Recovery” concert and community celebration at City Hall Park on August 26
Burlington, Vermont — Turning Point Center of Chittenden County is inviting everyone to join it to celebrate the stories of recovery from addiction at a fun and family-friendly event at City Hall Park on August 26 from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
The event will feature music by DJs Chia and Philthaay in the afternoon followed by a live performance at 7 p.m. by the reggae/ska band, Soulstice. The third-annual “Raving for Recovery” event is offered as a thank you gift to the Burlington area community for its support of Turning Point Center’s work to help folks on their journey to a sustained recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
Cam Lauf, Turning Point Center’s executive director, said the plan is to pack the park with recovery, relatives and friends who support all of us, all while enjoying the beauty of the park, the amazing city of Burlington, some excellent upbeat music, variety of foods, and stories of hope and resilience.
“City Hall Park is a beautiful resource for Burlington,” Lauf said. “This sober party will be family-friendly, free, and fun. We hope people will come and just enjoy the great vibes. We also wish to include everyone as they are.”
An array of food vendors will be at the park for the event, including INTI (caterers), MEZA Bosnian Cuisine, Maritela’s, Calito’s Popsicles, and Sabah’s House. Many of our trusted community partners will be there, too, distributing information and sharing education of all Vermont offers to recovery.
In addition to the food and music, people will get to hear personal stories of recovery from people who have overcome the grip of addiction. These stories of hope illustrate the remarkable effect that a connected community can have on individuals struggling with substance use. Several legislators and other community leaders will also be speaking.
TPCCC stands as an enduring haven for those seeking a safe and supportive community to work on their recovery. Besides the work at the Center, located at the corner of S. Winooski and King Streets, the Center’s recovery coaches are engaged in outreach efforts at sites throughout the greater Burlington community.
