Equal Opportunity and Non-Discrimination
The Turning Point Center of Chittenden County (TPCCC) is committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment in all aspects of its operations. TPCCC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and strictly prohibits discrimination on the basis of age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, financial status, veteran status, national origin, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law. This commitment extends to the provision of services, ensuring that no individual is denied services or treated differently in the manner of service delivery; to employment practices, ensuring that recruitment, hiring, assignment, promotion, salary determination, benefits, and all other conditions of employment are free from discrimination; to the selection, training, and participation of volunteers, program participants, and committee members; and to the appointment and membership of the TPCCC Board of Directors. TPCCC upholds these principles to ensure fairness, respect, and equal opportunity for all individuals involved in or served by the organization.
Ethics/Values
  • I will be honest with myself and others.
  • I will treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • I will be impartial at all times.
  • I will allow others to make their own decisions and choices in relation to their own lives.
  • I will always accept others for who they are, where they are, and what they are, regardless of my personal opinions.
  • I will disclose preexisting relationships with any individual receiving services to my direct supervisor.
  • I will refrain from engaging in personal (including intimate) relationships with any individual the organization is assisting in their recovery. For example, but not limited to, romantic or intimate nature, sexual banter or direct sexual contact, giving rides in vehicles, inviting to personal residence, or creating social events.
  • I will refrain from disclosing confidential information and maintain the privacy of others. I will work to discourage gossip and encourage people to avoid rumors and hearsay.
  • I agree to decline any favors, free services, or gifts that compromise the integrity of my peer support relationships.
  • I pledge my vigilance in guarding against the sexual exploitation or sexual harassment of anyone around me.
  • I will never exploit relationships with others for personal gain.
  • I will seek supervisory guidance when problematic situations with others arise.
  • I will comply with TPCCC’s non-discrimination policies on the basis of race, color, age, national origin, sex, mental or physical characteristics, pathway to recovery, or sexual orientation.
  • In a situation where mandated reporting may be required, I will consult a supervisor to determine the best course of action.
  • I will refrain from the distribution or misuse of any controlled or psychoactive substance including alcohol.
  • As a representative of the recovery support services community, I will do my best to be a healthy role model.

Board and Staff Statement on the Death of George Floyd and Racial Injustice

The Turning Point Center of Chittenden County stands in solidarity with the Black community in the fight against systemic racism and injustice. To be silent is to be complicit, and we have a duty and commitment to our Black guests, employees, volunteers, and extended recovery community to join our voice and our actions against such injustice. We acknowledge that we have work to do in the fight against the ongoing discrimination against people who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), and we are listening and educating ourselves. As we take this moment to express our condemnation of racism and our call for justice for all, we also commit to examine and grow our anti-racism practices. We hold ourselves accountable to ensure our practices and services are extended to all people in recovery in Chittenden County and beyond, and to incorporate, in particular, the perspectives and needs as expressed directly to us from BIPOC communities. Black Lives Matter.
