Under the Covid stimulus bill passed by Congress all Americans making under $75000 per year are eligible for a payment of $1200 (plus $500 per child).
Many low income folks do not file a tax return because they are under the required earnings to file. Originally, the IRS was going to make all these non-filers actually file a return to be eligible for the payment. After many protests, the IRS now has developed a simple “Non-Filers form” that can be filled out and submitted on-line to get the payment.
Many, if not most, of our guests, volunteers and perhaps staff will benefit greatly from taking this simple step.
